The T8830 Analogue Input Field Termination Assembly (FTA) provides
termination for up to 40 analogue input channels from various field
devices. The field supply is derived from dual 24 V DC feeds, which
are commoned via diodes on the FTA. A green LED indicates the
presence of the power supply, which is then distributed to each
channel. The field supply is limited by a 50 mA fuse, protecting
the field loop from overcurrent. The voltage developed across a 250
Ω resistor due to the incoming analogue signal is fed directly to
the analogue input module.
The connection between the 40-channel input module and the FTA is
terminated at the 96-way socket SK1. SmartSlot (Version 1) signals
from the module are also connected via SK1. The SmartSlot connector
SK2, another 96-way socket, is not used in systems employing
SmartSlot Version 2. This configuration ensures reliable signal
routing and compatibility with the Trusted System architecture.
The dual DC field power supplies connect to the FTA through a 5-way
terminal block (PWR TB). The 40 field input signals are connected
via 2-wire arrangements, terminated on twelve 3-way terminal blocks
and two 2-way terminal blocks. The design provides organized
wiring, clear signal separation, and simplified installation,
supporting safe and efficient integration into Series 90-30 PLC
systems.
